THE PROFESSIONAL UNDERWATER VIDEOGRAPHY CERTIFICATION

The Professional Underwater Videography course is an extensive 26 dive program.
Our marine video trainers have a variety of specialist fields including audio mixing, special effects and animation. This enables us to teach the latest filming & editing techniques to assist you in the exciting world of film production.

Throughout your Professional Underwater Videography course you will be encouraged to add your own creativity, assisting in the development of your video skills.

We are the only video training academy on Koh Tao that guarantees you will have a professional videographer trainer, directly supervising all your training activities throughout the duration of the course. We aim to ensure all courses are tailored to your individual needs & timeframe, and are as personal as possible, hence a flexible start date, and a maximum of two students per trainer at any one time.

The course has been designed with this in mind. All Underwater Videographer students complete the basic 12 dive Underwater Video course. Then you choose which specific underwater video filming project you would like to follow.   Option one is to focus on filming scuba diving students, producing  souvenir style movies.

The second option is to focus on documentary style filming, producing your own personal movies from your diving trips, reef checks or other scientific projects the dive centre we work with have running at the time. Regardless of which ‘Project Option’ you choose you will be filming with a variety of cameras including 3 CCD and HD 1080i and editing using Adobe Premiere Pro.

The final step is to produce your own movie. We then play this on the “big” screen at one of the locations we air our movies.
This may be an open water/advanced open water movie, featuring diver level students and instructors, a ‘documentary’ featuring the final cut of your specific documentary project,  or even a show reel of your best footage both underwater and topside. Whatever, we can guarantee a packed house full of supporters for your final effort.

At the end of your time with be a certified DDP professional Underwater Videographer and you will have collected a great amount of footage, short movies and your final movie.
Course Materials
We will supply all the materials you will need, however we do advise you purchase the following:

• Mask / Fins
• Dive Computer
• Powered 500Gb external desk top hard drive. We don’t recommend the use of the smaller 2.5 inch portable external drives.

UNDERWATER VIDEO INTERNSHIP

You will have the opportunity to fully develop "your own unique style" as a marine videographer during our internship program. Working alongside our full time staff we will gradually move you into filming daily dive movies from the dive school. When not doing this you will also have the opportunity to jump on one of the dive boats and collect more stock footage and refine your video skills. The Internship module takes approximately two weeks to complete, however you are free to continue for longer if you have the time because you will certainly have the passion............
And after the internship..............the world will certainly be your oyster..................
